2013 Trail Romp

The Friends of Lake Laurentian (FoLL) are volunteer caretakers of the beautiful Lake Laurentian Conservation Area which consists of 2,415 acres of protected green space in the heart of the city of Greater Sudbury. Open to the public year round It's facilities and 65 km’s of trails are visited by thousands of Sudburian’s.

To preserve and enhance the area we need your help so that we can deliver the educational programming, hold community events and conduct ongoing trail maintenance which will include brand new signage projected to cost approximately $180,000.

If you like to hike, bike, paddle, bird-watch, fish, dog walk, snow shoe or cross country ski you can be a part of this beautiful and natural environment. Don’t just sit there - get out and have fun while helping us continue offering you a free experience in the outdoors and only 7 minutes from Science North.

10K Trailblazer Challenge

Manitoulin Transport LogoOur Summer’s End Trail Romp will kick off at 9:30 a.m. with a 10k hike around Lake Laurentian, to raise funds for new signage at the around Lake Laurentian Conservation Area.

4K Trailblazer Adventure

Come join us at the around Lake Laurentian Conservation Area or a romp around our 4k Trail Adventure. Participants can earn a chance to win great prizes by collecting stamps at interactive checkpoints along the designated route. Prizes include:

The 10K Trailblazer Challenge will take place on September 21st, 2013, at 9:30 am at the Lake Laurentian Conservation Area.

Registration will take place between 8:00 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. on hike day. This is part of an all-day event that also includes family-friendly adventure trails and activities. Participants will hike around the lake on our ten kilometre hiking trail to compete for prizes based on the most funds pledged and collected.

Pledges will go toward Friends of Lake Laurentian’s extensive new signage project, which will make the Lake Laurentian Conservation Area a premiere world-class outdoor adventure destination. We ask that participants register in advance by sending the completed sponsorship forms by email to

Pledge forms to be returned to Samantha by Tuesday, September 17th , 2013. Collected pledges can be returned on the morning of the hike.

(Note: Participants must park at Science North and take provided shuttles to the hike area. FREE shuttle bus services will be available starting at 8 a.m. from the Science North parking lot to Lake Laurentian Conservation Area. General Parking will not be available at the LLCA)


Prizes will be based upon the largest dollar value of pledges received and completion of the 10K course. Participants receive free FLL T-shirt, post-hike refreshments and can partake in the other free event activities.
